Your whole balance sheet, updated daily

Real life money is wider than a checking balance. You have savings, investments, a home estimate, assets you track by hand, and sometimes a household that shares some accounts and not others.

Trixie’s whole balance sheet brings those pieces into one daily net worth view — so “what you actually have” sits next to “what you actually spend,” and every planning feature starts from the same complete picture.

What “whole balance sheet” means in Trixie

A balance sheet is simply assets minus liabilities. In Trixie it is not a spreadsheet you rebuild on Sundays. It is a living view of:

  • Liquid accounts (banks and cards)
  • Investment holdings
  • Real estate estimates where available
  • Manual assets you add yourself
  • The liabilities that belong with them (card balances and other tracked debts)

Updated daily, that view is the “have” half of honest money measurement. The other half is an honest run-rate — what you actually spend after the exclusion engine cleans transfers, credit card payments, and clear one-offs. Together they are the category claim: measure reality first, then budget, bill, reward, and retire from it.

Ask Trixie can answer questions over that same picture. Chat is a feature on top of measurement, not the product’s category.

Banks and cards via read-only Plaid

Day-to-day cash and card activity usually arrive through Plaid connections that are read-only. You authorize Trixie to see balances and transactions; you do not pay bills or move money inside the app.

That design is deliberate:

  • You keep execution at your bank or card issuer
  • Trixie keeps the measurement layer clear
  • Net worth and run-rate stay about visibility, not about controlling your funds

Card balances appear as liabilities. Purchases feed category history. Payments from checking toward a card are treated as settlement — not as a second round of spending — so the balance sheet and the spend picture stay consistent.

Investments in the same daily view

Investments are part of what you have, not a separate “wealth app” you open once a quarter. When holdings are connected into Trixie, they sit in the same daily net worth as cash and cards.

That matters for planning. A retirement Monte Carlo that only sees checking is guessing. A budget conversation that ignores brokerage contributions is incomplete. When investments live next to banks in one view, savings behavior, allocation, and spend can be discussed as one household story.

You still decide what to buy or sell at your brokerage. Trixie’s job is to reflect the positions you already have so “have” is not missing the largest pieces.

Real estate estimates and manual assets

Not everything important shows up through a bank feed. A home is often the largest asset. A vehicle, a private investment, or cash outside linked institutions can matter too.

Trixie supports real estate estimates (Zestimate where available) and manual assets you enter yourself. Estimates are estimates — useful for a daily direction of travel, not a formal appraisal. Manual entries let you complete the picture when a feed does not exist.

The goal is completeness with honesty: show what you track, label what is estimated, and keep net worth from silently ignoring the house or the assets you care about.

How daily net worth pairs with honest run-rate

Net worth without spend is a snapshot. Spend without net worth is a burn rate with no context. Trixie pairs them on purpose.

  • Daily net worth — Assets and liabilities across connected and manual sources — “What we have” stays current
  • Honest run-rate — Typical spend after exclusion — “What we spend” stays fair
  • Downstream features — Budgets, bills, rewards gaps, retirement — Plans reuse the same reality

When you transfer from checking to savings, net worth composition changes and spend does not pretend you burned the cash. When you charge dinner and later pay the card, the purchase counts once in categories; the payment settles the liability. Daily net worth and honest run-rate are two readings of one underlying history.

Household accounts without losing the full picture

Money is often a household sport. With household invite and per-account visibility, couples and households can share Trixie without flattening every account into one blur.

Joint accounts, individual accounts, and internal transfers stay understandable. The exclusion engine still pairs transfers so moving money between your own pockets does not inflate run-rate. Shared net worth and shared run-rate can reflect the household you actually manage — while boundaries around who sees which accounts stay clear.

Web and iPhone work from the same underlying data, so the household picture is not trapped on one device.

Invite-only: how to get in

Trixie is invite-only. There is no open signup. That keeps onboarding focused on a full balance sheet and a truthful run-rate rather than a partial checking-only slice.

What Trixie does not claim:

  • No moving money or bill pay inside the product
  • No credit score product
  • No auto-created budgets — suggestions from history; you create what you keep
  • No “AI manages your money” — Ask Trixie explores your data; you stay in charge

If you want to see what you actually have — banks, cards, investments, real estate estimates, and manual assets in one daily view — and then plan from that reality, request an invite at /waitlist.

When you are in, connect what you can, add what you must, and let daily net worth settle next to your honest run-rate. Completeness is the foundation; everything else in Trixie stands on it.
